On the mountains and fells we can feel the remoteness; that is if you venture out on a quiet day. Human made sounds are missing; instead we hear the wind and the occasional clacking of tumbling scree; we smell petrichor rising from the rock on a warm day after a rain shower, and we can feel the moist air of the clouds on our skin as we ascend into them.
